"ETHICS" DAILY?
Absolutely Shameful

In September of 2009, Mark McEntire took it upon himself to run a "hit-piece" article critiquing a widly popular and VIRAL, You Tube vid that compared certain Hebrew words with the name of Barack Obama - It so happens that the Hebrew words have strikingly similar sounds associated with the name of Barack Obama. That video was produced by a Baptist Pastor who contributes to one of the most popular Christian sites on You Tube. The particular video in question went viral in a matter of days and was featured as a headline article on World Net Daily.com.

The problem with Dr. McEntire's hit-piece is FOUR-FOLD

1. Some of his "scholarly analysis" was simply not correct. One example is the following. Dr. McEntire declares that "Worse yet, the Greek word that Luke 10:18 uses for "heaven" is the common "ouranos." If there was (sic) a Hebrew saying of Jesus in the background of this, it would have used the word "shamayim" for "heaven(s)." The video producer clearly pointed this fact out along with the fact that OURANOS has as its FIRST definition in the Greek Dictionary as "AIR" or "HIGH PLACE." But, alas, the "good Doctor" only mentioned that definition that suited his purpose for the hit-piece article. (ETHICS DAILY?)

Matthew 6:26 is one of MANY examples in the Greek where OURANOS is translated AIR and not HEAVEN or HEAVENS and certainly not the HEAVEN of God. Dr. McEntire either neglected to mention this linguistic fact or, perhaps he didn't know. Either way, not a great commentary on the good doctor's expertise.

Matthew 6:26
26 Look at the birds of the AIR (OURANOS); they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
(NIV)

2. He leveled personal attacks against the film's producer using pejoratives like "coward" and "liar." He then proceeded to identify the name of the producer and the Church he pastored even though the film was produced without the Pastor's name attached. It doesn't matter how he got the name of the Pastor, but the publication of his name with his church's name was a bit reckless. Dr. McEntire never made a single attempt to contact the Pastor before writing his article nor has he responded to any of the Pastor's requests for conversation on the matter. This, of all things, from a publication called ETHICS DAILY. A little hypocritical, we think. Perhaps, cowardly as well?

3. He then quoted scripture in the conclusion of his article, which, amusingly, could just as easily have been quoted to him for the very article he wrote. He quoted scriptures about "loving your enemy" and "blessed are the peacemakers." We kid you not.

4. The You Tube vid's producer clearly indicated in his film that the video does NOT call Barack Obama the antichrist - rather it was a simple play on Hebrew words. Interesting and provocative - but that was all. Dr. McEntire noted that "disclaimer" but then categorically called the vid's producer a "liar." Again, this from ETHICS DAILY.

To the shame and embarrassment of Dr. McEntire - the video's producer has made clear that ALL of his vids featuring Barack Obama and illusions of the antichrist were done as political satire and novelty pieces MEANT to be provocative enough to attract people to the highly popular APOLOGETICS You Tube site. Dozens of people have been led out of atheism and evolutionism and to a saving faith in Jesus Christ as a result. We wonder how many have read Dr. McEntire's attack of another Pastor's work and were led AWAY from the site and the subsequent exploration of a saving faith in Jesus? Shame on you, Dr. McEntire.

A quick GOOGLE search of Dr. McEntire's name reveals the probable motive behind the article. The video was going viral - being seen by millions around the world. This was drawing attention to the ppsimmons You Tube site - the hundreds of other videos and the scholarly full length DVDS produced by the pastor in question. It seems the good Doctor was going to try and ride the coat-tails of someone else's worldwide popularity. Again...shameful, Dr. McEntire, and rather transparent as well.
